Today is the 34th "Post-Elvis" anniversary. America is coming to terms with the memories and
glory of its former self. Over indulged and propped up on a cocktail of fiscal and monetary stimulants,
the US economy needs to get to rehab. The prevailing wisdom is fiscal cold turkey. The Fed has countered that ill wind with a permanent refill on ZIRP methadone and speed. It's not a pretty picture.
The numbers out of Germany last night show the somnambulism is going global. The US should be
using this time to re-establish its position at the top of the charts. You can't turn back the clock but you
can age far more gracefully. The King pulled it off with the great '68 concert before slipping away. The transformation starts now.
